by | Feb 27, 2017

While you can’t go wrong with 4,668 km of stunner coastline, there are some French beaches that shine just a little brighter: Boasting quirks and jaw-dropping vistas that will have you pinching yourself.

Are you ready for this?

Bot Conan Beach, Fouesnant, Bretagne

It is a national protected landscape and a resting place for numerous migratory bird species. Go for a walk over the tidal flats and you will feel like being on a small and lonely desert island.

Beach Notre-Dame, Porquerolles, Îles d’Hyères

Hyères clear and turquoise waters

The beach Notre Dame is situated on the Ile de Porquerolles, off the French Riviera, between the cities of Marseille and Cannes. The lovely shoreline of the island is perfect for families and for paddling, taking a walk and sailing. What makes it special? The French state bought most of Porquerolles in the 1970s, meaning that it is protected from over-development.

Laurosu Beach, Propriano, Corsica

Rocks on the coast of Corsica

Located in the south of downtown Porpriano, Capu Laurosu Beach is without a doubt one of the wildest shores the area. The beach is ideally situated with a view over the gulf of Valinco and extending over 3.5 kilometres of sand. However, be prudent when the waves are high.

The Great Sands, Belle-île-en-Mer, Bretagne

Belle-île-en-Mer, located just off the coast from Quiberon, definitely lives up to its name “Beautiful Island”. Because much of the coastline is marked by rocky cliffs, there are only a few places, where visitors can find a beach for swimming. On the sheltered Port Kerel there is the 2-km beach Les Grands Sables (the great sands), which is the biggest and most stunning beach on the island.

Folacca beach, Porto-Vecchio, Corsica

Beach in Porto Veccio

The undiscovered Folacca beach (also known as Folaca, Tamaricciu or Tamariccio) is situated not far away from the well-known Palombaggia beach. The sea is shallow and sheltered, which makes it an ideal spot for children. The rocky islands of Cerbicales are 200 Metres offshore and there is a picturesque lagoon right behind the beach to discover.

Cap Taillat, Saint-Tropez Peninsula, Var
