Propriano dayboat route

by | Sep 14, 2022

Sailing in Corsica? We have prepared two options for one-day sailing itineraries on this beautiful island. Rent a boat in Propriano and get ready to be amazed by translucent waters, white sand and breathtaking scenery on this Propriano dayboat route.

Option 1: Heading north of Propriano for a day of sailing

As you leave the port of Propriano, you will pass beautiful beaches and coves such as the bay of Cupabia. If you are a little impatient, we advise you to make your first dive at the Cala d’Orzo beach (11.1 nautical miles, 45 minutes of navigation). A wild beach, and with transparent water, it is rather difficult to reach by car, so you will be at ease there as it is not too crowded.

In case you doubted the region’s beauty, you will soon arrive at the cove Capu di Muru cove (4.3 nautical miles, 17 minutes of navigation). This cove’s exceptional setting will leave you speechless.

You are now only a few miles away from the terraces, sandy beaches and historical monuments of Ajaccio (11.2 nautical miles, 45 minutes of navigation), the birthplace of Napoleon Bonaparte. This town attracts many tourists thanks to its micro-climate which allows you to stop here all year round. Not to be forgotten is the magnificent main beach! However, we advise you to stop off at the beach of Saint François, which is located right before the citadel. In any case, worry not, as the surrounding area is full of small coves that can only be reached by boat.

Before returning to Propriano, you absolutely have to visit the Sanguinaires islands (8.5 nautical miles, 30 minutes of navigation). The site was awarded the “Grand Site de France” label in 2017 and once there, you will immediately understand why!

It’s time to head back to port and take stock of the boat in Propriano. To cap off the day, stroll through the narrow streets here in search of local specialities.

Option 2: Head south of Propriano for a day at sea

Leaving the port of Propriano, head for Campomoro and its tower, the highest on the island. Keep your eyes open, as with some luck, you may see some dolphins.

For your first stopover, we advise you to stop at the most beautiful cove: Cala Conca (11.8 nautical miles, 45 minutes of navigation). Inaccessible by road, you will come across very few tourists, and will be dazzled by the beauty of the place. If you have children, you may prefer to stop at Cala d’Agulia.

Continue down the coast, arriving at Senetosa Point with its lighthouse, and then head to Tivella Beach (3.2 nautical miles, 15 minutes of navigation), located in the heart of a protected reserve. For diving and snorkelling enthusiasts, this stop with its crystal-clear waters is highly recommended.

Heading south again, you will come across the charming village of Tizzano (2.6 nautical miles, 10 minutes of navigation), a little corner of paradise. In the past it was a village which has now been converted into a marina. You can swim or enjoy the bars and terraces in front of a magnificent panorama.

A little further south is the Roccapina point (6.7 nautical miles, 30 minutes of navigation) with beautiful white sandy beaches. You can admire the Tower of Roccapina and the famous Lion of Roccapina, carved naturally into the rock!

Your last stop can be at the Catena creeks to admire the view, or you can go as far as Bonifacio (13 nautical miles, 1 hour of navigation). Between the paradise beaches, the King of Aragon’s staircase and the medieval city, you are sure to have unforgettable memories of the cliff city!

Allow two hours by boat for the return trip to Propriano. To finish your day, stroll through the narrow streets in search of local specialities.

For your next adventure, why not enjoy a boat cruise from Porto-Vecchio?
