Cruise around the islands of Dalmatia departing from Split

by | Apr 25, 2023

Today we hoist the sails and set sail for Croatia, a destination known for its incomparable beauty and crystal-clear waters. We have selected a dream itinerary for a one-week cruise from Split.

Day 1: Pick up the boat in Split and sail to Milna (Island of Brac)

First, enjoy a calm day to get to know the boat and sail peacefully taking advantage of the tranquil sea and warm sunshine. Set sail from Split on one of the many amazing ports in the city.

Milna is a natural harbour where the imperial fleet used to take refuge as it is nestled at the bottom of a deep gulf. It is a real paradise for sailors because of its seafaring, fishing, and wine-making past. A stopover in Milna can only be a pleasure. Please your eyes with the architecture and please your palate with the Mediterranean gastronomy.

Day 2: Vis Island

Vis Island is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful islands in Croatia. Closed to tourism during the military occupation of Yugoslavia until 1992, it is a well-preserved island which makes it a place to discover. The south of the island of Vis is characterised by its caves and beautiful bays, so we advise you to go to discover them by heading for example to the bay of Rukavac, the cave of Mala Travna or the cave of Stinivia. Two options are possible, choose a corner of paradise to spend the night or go to the port of Vis or Komiža.

Day 3: Lastovo

Another wonderful island, the nature is typically Mediterranean and wild. The village of Lastovo is the most beautiful on the island, it is built on a hill with its back to the sea in the shape of an amphitheatre. It is known for its chimneys which are all different. The bay of Skrivena Luka, also called “the hidden harbour”, is one of the most idyllic places to spend the night and rest.

Day 4: Lastovo to Korcula

After having rested we recommend heading to Korčula “the black island”. Legend has it that when the ancient Greeks discovered the island, they only saw a black outline due to the density of oaks and pines. Book a mooring in the medieval town of Korčula where Marco Polo was born and visit the Venetian-style town full of culture and art. Do not forget to taste the typical white wines of the island.

Day 5: Hvar and its peculiar islands

From day 5 we have to think about heading back to Split. The next stage is Hvar and its charismatic small islands. Visit the fortress of Hvar, from there you can contemplate the fantastic view over the Pakleni islands that dot the Adriatic.

Day 6: Hvar to Supetar

For this day we advise returning to the island of Brac and anchoring in the coves near Supetar. Crystal clear waters for a luxurious swim, we ensure an absolute rest in the well-protected coves of the area before gradually returning to reality.

Day 7: Return to Split

It’s time to take the last baths and head back to Split after a week of cruising in Croatia.

You will not forget this vacation in the Pearl of the Adriatic with its wonderful beaches, spectacular cuisine, art and culture. You will surely feel like renting a boat again and discovering other areas of this country. We recommend checking out some of the other best places to rent a boat in Croatia, such as Trogir.
