SAILING IN MALLORCA, 10 FANTASTIC STOPOVERS

1ST STOP: CALA LIADO

A view of the coast in Liado

The island Sa Dragonera at the south-west tip of Mallorca is a real nature paradise and ideal for hiking trips. A well-kept path starts from the port at the Cala Llado and leads to the Tramuntana lighthouse. Cala Liado is a true oasis of undisturbed nature, looks like a bay straight out of a picture book and its crystal clear water is perfect for snorkelling and fishing.

2ND STOP: CALA EN BASSET

View of the coast and ocean in Basset

You can easily reach Cala en Basset by boat or by a two hour hike. Because the bay is hard to reach by foot it is still an untouched spot. A real treasure trove with a view to Sa Dragonera: An uninhabited island, where in the past smugglers brought their treasures to the shore. The varied seabed, the rocks and the crystal clear water make the creek a perfect spot for divers and snorkel fans.

3RD STOP: CALA S’ESTACA

A boat sailing through the coast in Estaca

Hardly any spot more romantic and lonesome than the Cala s’Estaca. This tiny fishing settlement is an idyllic harbour, hard to reach from the mainland, but easily accessible by boat. You can enjoy a picnic on the steep jetty in front of the boat houses and watch the calm soothing waters.

4TH STOP: CALA DEIA

View of the port in Caladeia

It is beautiful to swim and snorkel in one of the most secret bays of Mallorca, Cala Deià, which can only be reached by foot (30 minutes’ walk) or by boat. The sea is calm, entering the water is easy and the turquoise water absolutely beautiful. The backdrop of rocks and pine trees turn the bay to one of the most gorgeous blind spots in Mallorca.

5TH STOP: CALA TUENT

Incredible view of the inland waters at Calatuent

Hardly anyone knows the idyllic paradise of the small bay Cala Tuent. The 180 meters long gravel beach is absolutely perfect to take a nice walk and explore the treasures of the island. Up on the hill, right next to the hidden beach of the cala Tuent, there is the Mallorcan restaurant Es Vergeret with a beautiful wide view over the bay area.

6TH STOP: SA CALOBRA

Turquoise waters in Calobra

The main attraction in the bay of Sa Calobra is the unique scenery that surrounds the secret spot. At this spot, where the Torrent de Pareis has through enormous cliffs channelled a path into the sea, nature lovers will find astonishing and overwhelming beauty. The almost magical atmosphere during the sunset is priceless and exceptional.

7TH STOP: ALCANADA

Turquoise waters and the lighthouse in Alcanda

Opposite the island Illa de Alcanada you will find one of the most beautiful beaches of Mallorca: Playa de Alcanada. The water is calm and shallow and sometimes it is therefore even possible to walk from the beach to the lighthouse. The cala Alcanada is close to the Port of Alcuida and is considered as a beautiful and family friendly beach.

8TH STOP: CALA MURTA

Sailboats near the cliffs and coast of Cala Murta

Not a lot of people take on the cumbersome drive and the half-hour foot-march in order to reach Cala Murta. That’s why this beach is not even crowded in summer and as a sailor you share this idyllic creek with just a few nature lovers. Bring your own food and water and use one of the picnic spots to enjoy the magnificent atmosphere. In the Cala Murta you will find one of the most beautiful beaches of Mallorca.

9TH STOP: CALA S’ALMUNIA

Transparent, turquoise waters in Cala Salmunia

Cala s’Almunia lies in a picturesque and isolated bay, surrounded by steep rocks and shady trees. Close to Portocolom you will find a small particularly sandy beach and big rocks to climb on. The creek is a real pearl, the water pure and crystal clear. The bay is accessible by an old stair. However, the easiest way to reach it is by boat.

10TH STOP: ROXY BEACH BAR

View of the Roxy Beach Bar

Is there anything better than enjoying the sunset at this well preserved place after a nice day of sailing? By boat the hidden Roxy Beach Bar is situated not far away from Palma and the Port Calanova. It is sandwiched between some big rocks and the beach of Puerto Portals. Absolutely fantastic location on water front, delicious food and incomparable lovely atmosphere.
