Best Bars and Restaurants in Mykonos

If you are sailing around Mykonos this summer, then you have to have a meal at one of the many amazing bars and restaurants on the island. With so many luxury and unique restaurants on the island, we have put together some of our favourites below for you to explore.

Galleraki

Of all the cocktail bars in Mykonos, Galleraki is one of the most popular. With views of the iconic Mykonos windmills, and a vibrant atmosphere, Galleraki embodies the culture of Mykonos. Despite the drinks being slightly more expensive, they are well worth their value, especially during the sunset where you will see breathtaking views over the waves. Galleraki is a popular place among young travellers, selling signature cocktails, including the ‘Katerinaki’, the famous cocktail of Galleraki created with its secret recipe.

NOA Greek Taverna

For a luxury but traditional Greek taverna experience, you shouldn’t miss the NOA Greek Taverna located in the centre of Mykonos, with locally grown and caught ingredients creating delicious authentic Greek and Mediterranean dishes. The restaurant tries to bring historic Greek culture into the restaurant through its open courtyard, Cycladic architecture and family recipes. Try the meat mezes or the gyros for a truly authentic dish.

Roca

While Roca is a restaurant filled with tasty and locally produced dishes, what really sets Roca apart from other restaurants is the unparalleled views of Mykonos and the nearby islands, particularly at sunset, with the sunset in Mykonos being one of the best in the Mediterranean. With simple but popular and delicious dishes, such as the ‘Linguine with mussels’ or the ‘wrap feta cheese’, Roca is an incredible place for everyone to visit, with great vegan options, as well as a cinema screen which projects international sports events for the sports lovers out there.

180-degree Sunset Bar

If you are looking for the perfect place to go before a night out, the 180-degree Sunset – Bar in Mykonos is an incredible and unique bar to experience. Lounge on cushions and beanbags while overlooking the Aegean Sea in a bar striving to create an unparalleled experience, with drinks and food inspired by and meant to compliment the Cyclades. Try some of the speciality cocktails such as the Affinity or the Gratitude, or sip on a glass of Greek wine while enjoying some of the delicious tapas options.

Enjoy a unique experience in Mykonos by dining in a cave! Located in the Agia Anna cave, near Kalafatis Beach, this is a once-in-a-lifetime experience and an iconic place to visit. While you may visit to say you have dined in a cave, you will stay for the stunning dishes of Mykonian food, with some of the incredible dishes being prepared right in front of you. Taste the Aegean Sea with oysters, mussels, urchins and more, or just stay and try one of the signature cocktails.

One of the most popular destinations in the gay community, it is no surprise that Mykonos is filled with incredible gay bars and clubs. Jackie O’ Town Bar is one of the best, in a prime location just below the famous church of Paraportiani which makes it the perfect place to try a signature cocktail while the sun sets. Try one of the unique cocktails such as The Marilyn Monroe or the Bloody Jackie, or try one of the classics, such as a mojitos or a negroni. If that is not enough for you, the bar hosts nightly drag shows!

Rhino

For a cheaper, but no less delicious, option, have lunch at the Rhino street food restaurant which aims to popularize healthy eating and sustainable living. Located on Matoggiani Street, the restaurant is filled with all your guilty pleasures, while also remaining healthy and available for every type of diet, from vegan to gluten-free. Serving popular Greek dishes such as Souvlaki wraps, tzatziki and Greek salad, Rhino is the perfect place to visit for a delicious lunch on your day in Mykonos.

Avli Tou Thodori

The perfect place for all your beach day needs, Avli Tou Thodori is a cottage-style restaurant found on Platis Gialos Beach. With an incredible restaurant, as well as an area outside for sunloungers and a café area, you can stay at Avil Tou Thodori all day long, enjoying a coffee in the morning, all the way to sipping a cocktail at night. The menu is packed with many different dishes, from the Greek moussaka to pizza and steak. The restaurant is also a great place to visit if you have different dietary needs, with many great gluten-free and vegetarian options.  

COYA

While Mykonos is filled with many unique Greek-style restaurants and bars, if you are looking for something different COYA is one of the best places to go. Bringing a taste of Peru to Mykonos, the whole style of the restaurant from the interior decoration to the menu shows off the Latin American culture. Located in the heart of Mykonos on Malamatenia Street, the atmosphere here is incredible, and you can enjoy some of the authentic Peruvian dishes, such as the empanadas or the stir fry quinoa, or enjoy some of the Greek-Peruvian fusion dishes, such as the tostadas served with Tzatziki.

Hippie Fish

Aiming to create a unique and delicious experience, Hippie Fish is a restaurant which shows gastronomy as an art, with an experimental menu which is made with organic and locally grown produce. Hippie Fish focuses on the Aegean speciality of seafood and vegetables but also offers delicious meat and sushi options if that is more to your taste. This is one of the most well-known restaurants on the island, growing so big that it has its own shop, as well as an experienced massage therapist if you would like a massage while lying on one of their many sun loungers on the beach.
