by | Nov 18, 2021

Winter has landed, and with it, the cold, wind and rain. When temperatures drop, people tend to look for warmer destinations to visit during their winter holidays or decide to go to the mountains to practise snow sports. They forget about the sea and boats and most of the time people do not consider sailing as part of their holiday activities. The cold weather and rain could indeed make the experience challenging. However, we can always find destinations that suit our desires for a winter holiday. In this article, we will give you European and International destinations for sailing during the winter.

The Bahamas

Enjoy the region’s tropical climate with mild temperatures. Charter a boat and let the trade winds blow you around. You can rent a catamaran in the Bahamas and plan an itinerary of one or several days to discover all the islands and experience an exciting adventure in the crystal clear ocean. Visit the Exumas and its beaches, explore their deserted beaches, home to the world’s most famous swimming piglets. Discover each of the Exumas cays and enjoy the tranquillity of the area.

The British Virgin Islands

The British Virgin Islands are located in the Caribbean and are part of the British territory. There are about 50 islands, and only 15 are inhabited. The largest and most famous island is Tortola, and its capital, Road Town, is one of the most visited cities. This island has several white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters, ideal for visiting by boat with a group of friends. The British Virgin Islands have a perfect climate almost all year, during winter there can be strong winds but they won’t stop you from sailing.

Thailand

Thailand is a famous international destination for the winter season because of its lovely weather. The minimum temperature during the winter in Thailand is 25°. In this weather, hiking adventures can be enjoyable, and why not rent a catamaran to enjoy the sea and the sun. Do not forget to visit Railay Beach, which is one of the most beautiful in the area according to several tourists. What is the icing on the cake? On this beach, you can find several famous millenary stones to climb, and the best part is that most of them are friendly to climbers of all levels.

The temperature during winter is around 25°C-30°C. With this weather, we can enjoy different outdoor activities such as sailing. Cuba is not considered a sailing destination, but you can find boat rentals in several cities. Our favourite place: Cienfuegos, best known for its colonial buildings. It is the best place for sailing, and it has excellent marine facilities. Enjoy this paradise and discover all its coves and beaches.
