Experience Celebrity-Style: The Most Opulent Yacht Charters in Cabo.

by | Jan 16, 2024

I’m Robert, and I have called Mexico home for several years now. It’s a magical country full of history, natural beauty and lots of fun things to do! That’s probably why over 30 million of us Americans visit Mexico each year, and about 2 million of us call this country home. Over the years, I have worked with many different boat owners in Los Cabos. It truly is one of the best places to be out on the water, and enjoy a yacht charter. Between the amazing natural scenery, electric blue water and a wide range of boats for rent, there truly is nothing like a yacht charter in Cabo San Lucas. Let me take you on a journey of opulent luxury in Mexico’s beautiful Southern Sea of Cortez for a day on the water!

Los Cabos, a luxury destination.

Over the past decade, the Southern tip of Mexico has become a luxury travel destination in Mexico. With celebrities, influencers, wealthy Americans and people from around the world flocking to Los Cabos. Unlike Cancun, this destination is not geared towards the budget conscious spring breaker. I like to call it the Monte Carlo of Mexico.

For about 5 years now, I have worked with boat rental companies in Cabo. From mega yachts to pontoons, I have seen it all. Cabo has a plethora of options to choose from if you’re looking to get out on the water for a day. And if that’s the case, you’re really in for a treat! Unlike some places that rely uniquely on weather and the yachts, Cabo has unsurpassed natural beauty that is best seen from the water. The arches are actually right outside of the main marina in San Lucas. But you can’t get all that close to them without being on a boat.

Opulent Yacht Charters.

When it comes to chartering a yacht in Cabo, as I have said, there are many options to choose from. On SamBoat, we feature it all. Mega yachts, cruisers, catamarans, sailing yachts, dinner boats etc… You name, we have it! Unlike in Miami, you will generally always get some form of hospitality when chartering a yacht in Cabo. On some of the smaller platform catamarans that may involve snacks such as guacamole & chips (totopos) as they say in Mexico along with some domestic beer. While on the larger yachts, you’ll get a chef prepared meal onboard along with a full open-bar and mixologist to cater to your drink needs. Sometimes, the yachts actually award winning cooks and bartenders onboard. After all, Mexico does have some of the most advanced and sophisticated cuisine in the world. Right up there with France & Italy.

In addition to some of the fabulous food served onboard, a yacht charter in Cabo also can (and often does) involve the use of water toys. Whether that’s a wakeboard, jet-ski, sea-bob, kayak or stand up paddle board. In fact, SamBoat can guide you when picking your yacht to ensure the water-toys you want will be featured on board. In fact, one of my good friends who is a yacht owner in Cabo, now features e-foils. Look it up on Google, they’re pretty awesome!

To top it all off, everything is always all-inclusive once you step onboard the yacht. Unlike in Europe, or the United States, you will never have to worry about paying for a fuel surcharge or for crew at the dock. Gratuity is at your discretion and always appreciated though.

Tips for choosing the right yacht to charter in Cabo.

As with everything, a little bit of knowledge can go a long way. Let me help you not make the same mistake I have seen people make too often. There are two Cabos; San José del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas. Many of the yachts are located in Cabo San Lucas, but quite a few are actually also located in San José del Cabo. There are two main towns in Los Cabos, both with large marinas. They’re about 30 minutes away from each other, connected by a main highway also referred to as “the tourist corridor”. You may not mind spending 30 minutes in a taxi getting to your yacht, but just make sure you know which Cabo you’re heading to before booking. Cabo San Lucas tends to feature more cruisers, sail boats and catamarans. San José del Cabo generally features the larger, more luxurious options.

Beyond the Yacht: The Full Cabo Experience.

A yacht charter in Cabo is only one of the magical experiences you’ll have while vacationing here. There’s tons of other things to do while you’re in Los Cabos. This area is also known for being a golfer’s paradise, a desert adventurer’s dream and features some of the world’s most breathtaking beaches. Don’t believe me? Just check out Lover’s Beach below.
